Activities Week at Haydon Bridge High School

For activities week this year we decided to have one day of Ground School at Haydon Bridge High School followed by two days of flying at Milfield. George, Richard and Mark brought the K21 to Haydon Bridge on the first morning and we rigged the glider in the main school hall watched by many interested onlookers. The glider completely filled the hall and created a great visual impact which made all the hard work worth it.

After coffee we started the classroom briefings which covered health and safety guidelines and basic principles of flight which left the students eager to learn more in the air at Milfield.

Fortunately the weather was kind and we started flying in the morning with everyone making excellent progress. Tractor driving was also on the agenda and proved very popular. We ended the first day with a fish and chip supper whilst testing out newly learned skills on the gliding simulator.

The second day was also very good weather-wise and students were now doing parts of the aero tow very well.

All of the pictures and videos taken during the course were used the next day by the students to produce an excellent short video which captured all aspects of their gliding experience. This was expertly produced by Crispin Agar.

All in all, a great three days.
